Raimundo Santander, a renowned guitarist and composer with roots in the world of jazz, has consolidated his career by blending elements of Chilean and Latin American tradition, thus creating a unique style. With a trajectory that spans concerts around the world and numerous recordings both as a leader and accompanist, Santander recently released his album "The Treasure of the Present", an exploration of the compositional and interpretative challenge of the guitar in various formats, including the transposed guitar, the Chilean guitarrón, and the electric world.
In addition to his solo career, Santander leads La Orquesta del Viento, a Chilean jazz project that integrates the illustration and real-time projection of artist Sol Díaz, merging different musical styles and artistic disciplines. With two albums released and numerous national and international tours, this project has made a significant mark on the music scene.
As co-leader of the duo Peregrinos alongside Rodrigo Recabarren, a Chilean drummer based in New York, Santander has performed concerts and recordings in the American metropolis, as well as collaborations with both Chilean and American musicians, totaling five national tours.
In his collaborative role, Santander has worked with renowned artists such as Cómo Asesinar a Felipes, Soledad del Río, and Nano Stern. Additionally, he was a stable member of Ana Tijoux's band, participating in recordings and tours around the world, and together with the singer and rapper, he founded "Roja y Negro", a project that offers a new interpretation of the repertoire of Latin American tradition.
Currently, Santander hosts the "Guitarra al Pecho" Podcast, writes for the blog "Los Escritos de Rai", and continues to teach, a role he has performed for over 20 years. Additionally, he contributes to soundtracks for audiovisual projects and participates in a radio program, demonstrating his interest in various aspects of musical endeavor and his commitment to the development of national art.
In August 2023, Santander had the honor of opening Natalia Lafourcade's concert at the Movistar Arena, thus culminating a career full of achievements and significant contributions to both the national and international music scene.
